REFUSE / ALL - Have a happy holiday in Guantanamo Bay CD

despise the frontcover artwork that look too much like a Corel Draw layout session... these folx are ex RIOT/CLONE and SORB folx i.e. a bunch of old uk punkers who know how to play thoughtfull catchy down to earth heavy and gruff punkrock with a massive production soundwise and big UK Anarcho Punk influence! Very, very good!

REFUSE / ALL - What lurks Beneath? CD

If you recognise the name Refuse All, it´s probably because they can lay claim to being one of the busiest bands on the punk circuit. But despite playing every gig, bar mitzvah and wake they can manage, and undergoing some changes in personnel, Refuse All have managed to release "What lurks beneath", their first release with the current line up. What they have also managed to do with this album is to set a clear identity for themselves. The two guitar combination works a treat to give their sound some depth and substance, and new vocalist Kev´s throaty delivery gives the band a violent edge. The lyric sheet doesn´t make cheerful nighttime reading either, a cynical rant at politicians, materialism, apathy and ignorance. Like all the best punk bands, Refuse All don´t have all the answers, but they do ask all the right questions. My favourite tracks on this are "not just a dream", "last winter" (despite the obviously nicked Motorhead riff sorry lads I noticed!), "slow motion suicide" and the brave attempt into new territory on "rise non-believer". If you like your music fast, angry and uncompromising, this is recommended.

  REMISSION - Ninty-Five to Ninty-Eight. CD

Before there was Wartorn, before Words That Burn, the hordes of northern Wisconsin crust punks moshed counter-clockwise in delight for their previous efforts in Remission. This CD contains 24 tracks and includes all three EPs plust heir entire 1995 "Human Compassion" demo cassette. This us rough and raging hardcore punk that falls somewhere between Disrupt and Civil Disobedience. An important blast from the past.

REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY - Destroy All Evidence. CD

The new blazing shot across the bows of the mainstream by Articles Of Faith´s Vic Bondi & Jawbox´s J. Robbins! The sunset of the Bush Administration brings the empty election-year promise of change that placates some, but others-- still tasting the bile over American atrocities from the last eight years and beyond-- force a change themselves. Vic Bondi (Articles of Faith, Alloy, Jones Very) began Report Suspicious Activity as a productive means to channel his political rage: a one-off project that grew into a band as musicians were recruited, songs written, and shows played. In addition to Bondi, Report Suspicious Activity now boasts an impressive lineup with J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines), Darren Zentek (Kerosene 454), and Erik Denno (Kerosene 454). The meaningless war on terror drags on, and so continues Report Suspicious Activity´s musical insurgency. For Destroy All Evidence, their follow-up to 2005´s self-titled debut, both Bondi and Robbins penned the songs while Bondi, Robbins, and Denno take turns as lead vocalists. In terms of songcraft and lyrical heft, they can duke it out with the best of Reagan-era political punk. Their hardcore mettle is tempered with a DC post-punk slant and Bondi´s always-soulful songwriting. The lyrics, as informed as they are vitriolic, go beyond simplistic punk punditry, waking our emotional core fatigued by the 24-hour news cycle. Is Destroy All Evidence a bitter requiem for the Bush legacy? One would like to think it´s a clarion call to never forget the dark times as we forge ahead. - "A distinct reflection of the times and Vic´s complete discontent with the politics that are tarnishing America´s name.... This isn´t just a political hardcore record: there is a sense of melody and honesty that is lacking in music these days."

  REQUIEM - Storm Heaven CD.

Finally avaiable again and they said “Formed from the wreckage of other bands (cough, Catharsis, cough -Ed.) that set out to rescue the world from Western civilization only to end in ashes and defeat, Requiem has refused to record anything until now lest they perpetuate the commodity-oriented stupor that mires the would-be revolutionary underground in verbose inactivity. Finally, they have composed a half hour of music they feel might be able to do more to break hearts and inspire insane acts of resistance than it does to promote consumption and spectatorship. In nine tracks that range from mournful, muted beauty to operatic hardcore punk to the apocalyptic marching drums of street rioting, they pit raw fury and yearning against everything ugly in a desperate bid to rescue punk rock (not to mention music and modern life in general) from its own inertia. If music can be no more powerful than the context in which it is made, then we are lucky these full-time revolutionaries and lunatics have taken time out of their demanding regimens—not to mention stayed out of prison long enough—to fashion for us this epic of tragedy and defiance. Packaged in our most elaborate case to date featuring a die-cut stencil and 16-page oversize booklet.” I get the feeling they´ll end up composing soundtracks to war movies in the meantime this is kinda special and should be acquired!

  RESIST - Resistography. DoCD

Resist were first among the wave of new anarcho-punk bands that swept over Portland, Oregon in the late 80´s.   RIOT / CLONE - Success. CD

One of England´s longest and most popular Anarcho-Punk bands return for what is by FAR their greatest release in their 27 year history. With four 7" ep releases and as many full lengths, Riot/Clone have recorded a full length of songs with the intesity, anger and political message that has made them one of the most popular U.K. punk bands since 1980. Fans of early Conflict and Crass will LOVE this release.
